This build is for an End Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) antenna. There are already many pages that go into details of EFHWs so I won’t go into that here.
First is the balun. I used a clear top project box to house the components. The balun is wound for 49:1. On the top is a 5/16″ eye-bolt for hanging, on the bottom is a BNC connector, and on the side is a 1/4″ bolt for the antenna.
Next is the antenna itself. The antenna wire is looped through the eye-bolt in a bowline knot to hold tension, and the end is capped with a ring terminal attached to the 1/4″ bolt on the side. This allows for a secure way to tension the antenna without putting tension on the box.
